office: work in progress

after spending a whole week painting, the office is ready for new floors!

as you can see it looks much cleaner and crisper with white trim than the builder's standard wood trim.  we've laid down the moisture barrier over the concrete floor.  because of the dogs' "additions" to the old carpet, we cleaned and painted the concrete floor with a layer of plain white kilz, to remove any lingering odors.

here's a view of the opposite wall of the office.  i've got LOADS of ideas of how to utilize the ledge wall.

and here's a closeup of the Oak Bosendofer laminate flooring from simple floors

we will be installing it ourselves to save on cost. although this flooring has cost me BIG TIME in headache! you see, when the 1400 sq ft of flooring was being delivered, the delivery guy DROPPED A FULL PALLET right off the back of the truck! we had to help him carry each box to the garage. and, being young and stupid, we didn't even THINK to mark the damage on the invoice receipt, or even deny the pallet altogether! so, when we tried to install it for the first time, we found most of the planks were un-installable!

long story short: 3 months, several phone calls, dozens of emails, and an inspection later, they picked up the damaged floors, and now we're just waiting for the reimbursement check.

we've since decided that we'll use the floors that weren't damaged in the basement rooms, installing them ourselves.  but, i think we might decide to hire someone to install the floors upstairs.  we'll see, though...

so, that's the progress we've made so far!  i'll post again when we've started installing it.

XOXO,
marcia
