perfect day to work in the garden!

I have felt like a pregnant POWER HOUSE the past 2 days!  Being in my 2nd trimester definitely brings out the best in me...always!!  :)

Last night I pulled up the carpet tacks, vacuumed, and painted 2 coats on the trim.  And today I tackled one of the tasks I have been fearing the most because it's just such a daunting task!!  For the past few years we haven't stepped foot into our garden, as a result it has become a variable FOREST of 8' weeds!  Not to mention our 2 overgrown, and OUT OF CONTROL grapevines on the garden fence, which have added to the weed problem by acting as a weed web, twirling and trapping the taller weeds.

Well, today I took the opportunity, before the weeds began to flourish again, to rip those suckers up, and put them all in a pile ready to be fodder for summertime campfires!  I worked my little pregnant TAIL off for a few hours, until I became hot, sweaty, and exhausted!  That's when I called Adam over, and tagged him in.  He helped with the final bit of raking, and transferred the last bit of weeds onto the MEGA pile!  (There is an easement at the back of our property just behind the garden, and the weed pile is the length of the garden filling the easement!  It's pretty crazy back there!)

I didn't take a before photo, but I hope you can get the idea of the scale and scope of this project with a look at the current state of the garden, as well as the pile in the background...if you can see it.  I don't remember the dimensions of the garden exactly, but I'm pretty sure it's somewhere around 25'x20', i think.  So...it WAS approximately 500 sq. ft. of 8' WEEDS!!!!

Today is the first beautiful day of the season, and the kids are definitely enjoying the warm sunshine.  I think I'm gonna go take the rest of the day off to enjoy this beautiful weather, and recharge for the NEXT task on the docket!

XOXO,
Marcia
