living/dining room: new floors!

after staring at this bare room for what seemed like forever, we finally broke down and called in the professionals to do the flooring in our living/dining room.  originally, we were going to install laminate flooring throughout the house, but after seeing it in the office, decided to upgrade to hardwood floors on the main level, and laminate on the lower level.

we still need to install new trim around the sliding glass door and windows, and replace all the outlet covers, but overall, i'm super happy with how the floors turned out! and the floors are so nice, that i'm going to be hosting thanksgiving this year!  this definitely cost us a pretty penny, though!  but the cost was worth it, since we were able to match it to the existing hardwood in the hallway, and it was installed in only 4 hours!  i think when we install the other rooms, we'll try to do it ourselves. the questions remains, though, should i paint that brand new hardwood trim white?  i LOVE me some white trim, but painting that may be hardwood sacrilege!
